A Maternity Must Have : The Kimono

Pregnant woman standing on beach in a kimono

I’ve teamed up with Pink Blush Maternity to bring you this blog post on my fav piece of clothing during pregnancy – the kimono!

Typically, while not pregnant, I like to wear loose fitting clothing, however when I’m pregnant I like to wear tighter fitting clothes the second there is any sign of a bump! In an effort not to spend a fortune on maternity clothes, I try to find pieces that will work pre and post baby. Cue the kimono [or cardigan]!

For both of my pregnancies I had the biggest bump during the cooler months, which is when, if I wasn’t pregnant, I would wear the coziest overrsized tops and sweaters. Although these fit over my growing bump, I didn’t feel great in them – I kinda felt like a blimp LOL! This is when I discovered cardigans and kimonos. I love pairing either with leggings, track pants or jeans, and a fitted basic T, so I can show of my bump while still feel cozy.

When Pink Blush reached out to me I had just entered the season of the biggest bump, the third trimester. I had also just found out I was going on vacation, and was praying warmer spring weather was just around the corner. Not only was my shipment delivered within a few days, the kimono they sent was the perfect beach cover up. It was lightweight, and long enough to cover all the lady parts – keep in mind I’m almost 6 feet tall, so when clothes cover all the right parts I get very excited! I also think it will look really cute come Spring with a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a cute pair of sneakers [styled below]. The best part is, it won’t have to be stored away once babe arrives! Kimonos and cardigans work great for nursing – throw on a nursing tank and use your kimono as a cover up if needed. Once you’re done with pregnancy and nursing, these pieces can still be used #winning!

I’ve linked the kimono I ordered, as well as a few other similar options I love from Pink Blush Maternity below.
